JaySlays.Tech is a one-person software studio run by Jay out of West Virginia, USA. Not an LLC, not a corporation — one person building software. When these Terms say "I" or "me" that means Jay; when they say "you" that means the human reading this.
These Terms apply to jayslays.tech (this marketing site) and to any product I ship that doesn't have its own terms. Individual products can have their own terms and, when they do, those win for anything about that product:
- Backline has its own terms. Use them for anything Backline-related.
By using the site or any of my software, you agree to:
- Not try to break into other people's accounts.
- Not scrape the site or my APIs at abusive volumes.
- Not attempt to compromise, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the systems, except where U.S. law explicitly protects that (like
17 U.S.C. §1201(f)for interoperability). - Not use my software to do anything illegal, or to harass or harm someone.
The design, code, branding, and content of jayslays.tech and its products are mine. If you're a customer of a product I ship (like Backline), the data you put into that product stays yours — I just host and process it so the product works.
Everything on this site and in my products is provided "as is." I do my best, but I can't guarantee the site will always be available, always be bug-free, always be right for your specific use case, or always be secure against every possible attack. You use it at your own risk.
If something breaks and it costs you money, my total liability for anything related to the site or a product is capped at whichever is larger: what you actually paid me over the last 12 months, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). I'm never liable for indirect, consequential, or lost-profit damages.
This cap applies to the maximum extent U.S. law allows. If your local law says some things can't be limited (like certain consumer protections), those still apply.
I'll update these Terms occasionally. When I do, the "Updated" date at the top of this page changes. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the update. If a change is a big deal, I'll try to flag it directly.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of West Virginia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes in the state or federal courts serving West Virginia.
